Hi MII
The other night I reconnected with my Mii. On 11/13/2011 was the first night I chose to use the Wii as my method of exercise on this round of self improvement. It had been 72 days since I saw her last. Needless to say she was very excited to see me, however she made an, "ohh," sound when I steeped on the scale. I am using the Wii to track my progress and as the main way to check my weight from day to day. I find the Wii very useful for this purpose. Tonight 11/16/2011 I got on the Wii again and guess what good news, I lost 4.6 pounds, YEAH Mii! Realistically I know that this is water weight especially with the Lasix however it still feels great to see this and can be a motivator. Every little bit helps so now the important thing is not to loose motivation, keep up the good work, and do my best. I also want to clarify that weight loss is not my main goal, it would be nice, but eating healthier is my focus.

What to read, what to eat?
I went to the library the other night because I had not been in so long. Going to the library just seemed like a nostalgic thing to do. At work we promote reading and taking your children to the library so much to parents that I figured I should practice what I preach. I was not sure what I was looking for because for the past 10 years every time I went to a library I had a educational purpose. My purpose on this trip was myself so I headed to the self-help, weight loss, and food books. I got 4 books on eating better: Eat this not that, Dr. Shapiro's Picture Perfect Weight Loss, another Dr. Shapiro book, and 100 top diet secrets. So if anyone wants to know the exact titles of these books let me know and I will get them for you.
So far I really like Dr. Shapiro's Picture Perfect Weight Loss, this book is so interesting. It basically shows an unhealthy choice that you might eat on the left hand page and then then a healthy choice on the right hand page. Both choices calculate to be the same amount of calories. Needless to say most of my menu choices are on the left side right now. Let me give you one example; 1 bagel and cream cheese is 650 calories, uhhh what?? The thing that is ironic about bagels is that when I eat them I think or feel that I am being healthy when in fact I am not, it's quite the opposite. All these years I thought I was doing something great by eating bagels..hmmm.
For the same amount of calories according to this book you can have 4 light pancakes 280 cal, 4 vegetarian links 130 cal, 2 TBLS light syrup 50 cal, and sliced starfruit and persimmon 190 cal. WOW! The book is filled with many more amazing changes or replacements that can be made. It is also great if you don't like to read because it is mostly pictures of the food and the calorie count next to the picture. I will be blogging about this book some more later and the 100 things book.

How about those funny looking shoes?
I have been seeing these funny looking tennis shoes everywhere. These are the ones with the big heel that are supposed to help you loose weight. Yeah I fell for them and bought a pair, not the real expensive ones, I got off brand cheapskates just to see how they worked. I thought well if these have the magical affect that I am hoping for I will go and buy the more expensive ones. Two days later my feet hurt like hell and my dentist told me they don't work. I think to myself, "hey buddy your working on the top part not the bottom, leave me to my delusions that these shoes are the answer!" He said your feet are like your mouth your teeth are supposed to line up and be flat or else big problems will occur. Your feet must line up with the ground when you walk or else big problems. Then he told me if I don't believe him look up Dr. Oz because his information is from that show. Of course I did not want to think that my pain from wearing these shoes for two days was not going to produce some gain...so i looked up to see what Dr. Oz has to say on his web page from other intelligent bloggers. Below is the link...I have no comment, LOL.

What happened
When I was at the gym I told myself I was going to go everyday no matter what! Nothing was going to get in my way. Well I guess I was wrong because I let things get in my way and I have not made it to the gym in two days. I am always so hard on myself when I do this, like many of us are, but why didn't I make it? This is not like me because I am an intelligent, determined, ambitious, overachiever...why can't I be an overachiever when it comes to weight loss? I was off to a good start and then wham something held me back again. I ate wrong, drank too much pop, did not exercise, and from the looks of it I am staying up way to late tonight. I keep trying to tell myself Abbey you can do this, you can be committed to a lifestyle change, loose weight and get healthy. I have beaten so many odds before why can't I beat this one. It seems so friggin easy, just stop eating bad stuff and go to the gym. For God's sake I am paying for it in more ways than one.
